Signal Boosters And WiFi Calling

Justin in Iuka, Mississippi listens on SuperTalk 94.3 and asked us about boosting is AT&T signal

Justin asked: “Boosting my AT&T cell signal. Listened to your show a few years back and heard you recommend Surecall. Is that still the best way to boost AT&T service in my area?”

Justin, these days Surecall is basically one of your two options when it comes to cell phone signal boosters. Your choices are them or weBoost.

Both have pretty comparable devices, they cost about the same, they do about the same job, so you can pick whichever brand you prefer and expect a similar experience.

You have a 3rd option

You have a 3rd option: if you’re looking to boost your service in a building, be it at home, at work, or anywhere else with WiFi, most carriers including AT&T offer WiFi calling.

If your phone is reasonably new it probably supports it already, and you really wouldn’t notice the difference. You just turn on WiFi calling on the phone and whenever it’s connected to WiFi it will route calls and texts through the internet.

Nothing really changes for you, you dial the same way, text the same way, answer the same way, but the phone will talk to the internet instead of a cell tower when routing your call.

Your internet connection doesn’t even need to be very fast, and a big advantage from using this particular solution is that it’s free. AT&T won’t charge you any more (if anything they probably prefer that users do that instead of demanding new towers), your phone already has the feature, and you don’t need any new gadgets.

  1. Hi Dave. We live in a very rural area in east Texas. We have a very poor cell signal. We have internet with Hughes net internet. We bought new I phone 7’s so we could use Wi fi calling. Our cell signal is still very weak and drops calls. Do we need a booster of some type. Please help. My wife is a realtor and is panicking over being able to conduct business. Please let me know. No one else seems to be able to help.
    Thank you
