New Nexus Phones
As was expected, Google unveiled the latest generation of Nexus phones at its most recent press event. This year, the Nexus line comes in two flavors, the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X.
Nexus 6P
Google introduced the first all metal body Nexus phone.
The Nexus 6P will be built out of aeronautical grade aluminum by Huawei, it will spot a 5.7″ screen, a USB Type-C port for charging, a 64-bit processor and a 12.3MP camera that Google promises will take better quality pictures.
All those features will come at a price of $499.
Nexus 5X
Google will also be working with LG to bring to the market the Nexus 5X, which will feature a 5.2″ screen, the same 12.3 MP camera of the Nexus 6P, and it will sell for a more pocket-friendly $379.
Common features
Both phones will feature fingerprint scanners and will be compatible with Android Pay, and both can be pre-ordered now from the Google Play store.
Pre-orders will come with a free 90-day subscription to Google Play Music, and with $50 credit to spend on the Google Play Store.
New Chromecast and Chromecast Audio
Google redesigned the old Chromecast stick into a round, smaller, almost headphone-from-the-side looking streaming device that promises faster streaming and less buffering, and paired it with the new Chromecast Audio, a similar device designed to make your wired speakers wireless.
The Chromecast Audio works much the same way as it’s video-enabled sibling, it uses WiFi, and works with popular music apps on iOS and, of course, Android.
Somewhat surprisingly, the Chromecast Audio will sell for the same $35 the regular Chromecast does.
Pixel C
The Pixel family of Google-designed devices, most famous for the Pixel Chromebook, is adding a tablet as its newest member. The tablet, completely designed by Google features a detachable magnetic keyboard for easier typing, it comes with a USB Type-C port for charging, and it should be available in time for the holidays.
