Chris, it obviously depends on what you need for school, but the iKlips Duo is a flash drive that can connect to both a phone and a computer.
If you plug it into a computer it will show up as an external drive the way any other one would, if you plug it into a phone you can use the app to transfer or access files.
Now, if you take any kind of notes on your phone, or edit documents on your phone, it may come in handy. If you want to backup your files on more than one device it may be useful too.
It would be useful if you need a device that will help you copy files from your phone and computer, or back-up files from both your phone and computer. How you apply it to school, depends on how that would be useful to your school work.
