Jon asked: “I’m in need of a new phone. My phone quit working. I’ve been looking at the Jitterbug, which is something that appeals to me at my age, I’m almost 75. Big numbers and very simple to operate. I’d like to hear your opinion on it.”
Jon, the Jitterbug is a completely adequate phone if all you’re looking for is a device to make phone calls on. Like you said, big buttons, simple to operate, it also has good battery life.
If you’re looking for something that gets you a little closer to a regular smartphone, they have a touchscreen phone that is capable of email and web browsing.
Besides them, you can have a look at the Alcatel OneTouch, it’s Blackberry-shaped rather than flip-phone-shaped. It also has large buttons, it’s also easy to use, it’s just a different form factor.
You can still find regular feature phones as well, the buttons may be a little smaller, but they will still be physical buttons.
If you’re at all interested in smartphones, both Android phones and iPhones offer some kind of magnification setting to make them easier to use for people with impaired vision to use.
