Dave and the team discuss Apple News, and more.

Our guest this hour:
Hanan Lipskin, Founder of Keepers

Joe in Berkley, Michigan listens to the Podcasts and is participating by using the AskDave button at IntoTomorrow.com and asked: “I have an iPhone Pro and I want to know about the new iPhones they have out there today. I have a problem with getting some reception locally, they’re saying the new one – you can get it in the desert, anywhere in the world. Is that true? If you could help me out, I’d appreciate it.”

Joe, in spite of the rumors, Apple didnt mention anything about satellite support in their 2021 event.

Even if that does eventually come out, keep in mind that its not likely to be full communication, but the ability to send a basic text via a satellite to give someone a status update or to ask for help while youre in the desert.

There are devices like the Garmin InReach that have had that feature for years without full satellite voice or data service.

What was unveiled at Apples 2021 event was a small evolutionary upgrade over the 2020 model.

The new version of the phone still features 3 cameras, but theyre slightly improved with the phone now featuring macro capabilities at a distance of 2cm.

The phone can change the focus of videos it shoots after the video has been recorded, it has a smaller notch, and a longer battery life by about 90 minutes, a new better display, and a new A15 chip with a 5-core GPU.

Overall, the upgrade is probably not worth your money if youre currently on a 2020 Pro.

Terry in Carthage, Missouri listens to the podcast and is calling in using the free AppRequested: Replacement Key for 2018 Nissan Titan, case for AirPod pro, or case for Apple Watch 44mm and asked: “Got a problem with my Alexas. I’ve got three of them in my house and I can’t seem to get them to work on the same commands. I’ll tell it to turn a light off. One will say it can, and the other two will say it doesn’t know the function. I go to the other room, and same thing. They’ll all answer, but only one will do the function. So I need some help to get them all working together.”

Terry, are all of your Echo speakers set up using the same account?

Echo speakers are built to work together. In theory when you set a second one up after having a first one running, as long as they are set up using the same account some setting will transfer.

Being connected to the same main account should ensure that Alexa skills, music settings, and smart devices all transfer to the newer one.

What wont transfer is bluetooth profiles, but that shouldnt keep them from being able to answer you if you talk to them directly.

Since Skills dont seem to have transferred, you might want to first make sure all 3 of your speakers are updated to the latest version, then reset the ones that are not responding to your skills to factory settings and pair them again making sure that you use the same account used when you set up your original one.

According to Amazon everything should transfer if you do that. Good luck!
