Dave and the team discuss Facebook’s AI approach to cleaning up the platform, OTC hearing aids, Apple’s announcements, and more.
Joe in Gladewater, Texas listens on KTBB and called in using the AskDave button on our site and asked: “I was wondering if you can give me some suggestions on an audio interface to do some vocal recording of acapella music. I want to do multi-tracking of my own voice. I appreciate all that you guys do. Thank you so much and have a great day.”
Joe, if you really only want to record your own voice and nothing else then a Focusrite Scarlett Solo may work for you.
Its simple, has a single XLR input, it connects to a computer via USB and other than that it just has some knobs for gain and monitor volume. Its simple and will get the job done.
The Scarlett Solo will cost you around $120, for less than that you can buy a BEHRINGER U-Phoria UMC202HD which will take 2 XLR mics and connect to your computer via USB. It includes MIDI in and out ports, a couple of options for audio out and monitor ports, and you can find it for under $100.
The Tascam US-1×2 is similar to those two, it has a single XLR input, some audio outputs and a USB connection to a computer. It differs from the other two in that it also features a mini USB port for use with tablets and its designed to work with iOS.
If youre interested in recording and editing on the go, or in just carrying lighter gear, it could be an option for you since the price is similar at roughly $120.
