Starting a new technology company can be a challenge. Established corporations can lend a helping hand.
LG is one of the largest technology companies in the world, yet they spend time and money to help health tech startups get off the ground. The LG Nova program finds new companies with the potential to change lives on a global scale, and provides them with guidance from industry veterans and successful entrepreneurs. They also give financial and technical support. One startup in the program is XRHealth, which is creating virtual clinics where patients can go and use virtual reality equipment to consult with remote healthcare professionals. Initially, it is targeting pain management and behavioral health. MayaMD is another startup that has created a digital health assistant named Maya that is powered by artificial intelligence. Patients can have a conversation with Maya using either text or voice, to explain their symptoms. Maya can ask questions and then reach a recommendation in less than a minute with 94% accuracy. Decisions are based on a database of more than 10,000 symptoms and conditions.
