A company has created a sophisticated biosensor system specifically for congestive heart failure patients. The tabletop device does not need to be in physical contact with the patient, but uses infrared light instead to take measurements. The system can detect changes in a patient’s lung congestion with 91% accuracy. This means that the system can detect when a patient’s condition is deteriorating so that treatment can begin sooner, avoiding an ambulance ride and an expensive readmission to the hospital.
