Doug asked: “Normally when I get a text from anyone in my family to my iPhone, their name appears at the top of the text page. Except my wife. Now her phone number shows up. her name used to, but not anymore. I don’t know how to fix that.”
Doug, there are a couple of things you can try. The problem may simply be that your phone doesn’t know which name to assign to the number.
Is the number saved twice on your contacts? If you happen to have saved her number under a few different names, the phone may not know which name to assign to it. iPhones do tend to offer two options if it’s only two, but there’s probably a limit as to how many guesses it will make as to who that number belongs to.
What’s more likely to be happening, though it’s that there was simply an error syncing the contacts from iCloud.
If your contacts are backed up on iCloud, there may have been an issue when the phone downloaded her contact info.
You can just go to iCloud settings on your phone and turn off contacts. When you do that it will give you the option to delete contacts from the phone. If you do that and then turn contacts back on, it will force the phone to redownload all contacts (including your wife’s), and if the problem was sync related, her name should come back.
