Health Tech: Biofeedback Headband for Better Sleep

Everyone needs a good night’s sleep, but many people struggle to fall asleep and stay asleep. A smart headband reads your mind to help you sleep.

Sleep is not just a luxury. It’s actually critical for good health. Lack of sleep can be a precursor for serious health conditions including obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. The Muse S headband has sensors that detect your brainwaves, and then uses biofeedback to help you fall asleep and stay asleep. It can play a variety of sounds and information tracks to help you relax, and gently fades out as you fall asleep. If it detects that you’re waking up during the night, it will fade in the sounds again until you fall back asleep, and it will then fade out again. The same biofeedback can also be used to help control stress; subscribers have access to more than 500 guided meditations that they can use during the day, and the system gives feedback to help you improve your focus.
