Health Tech: Companion Robot Helps Elderly Exercise

Robots can do a lot of things, but did you know there’s a robot that can help seniors exercise and be healthier?

Robots now vacuum our floors and mow our lawns, but they are taking on more tasks around the home. A new partnership between a robot company and a digital health and wellness company is providing an important service for seniors that not only makes them healthier, but safer as well. Bold is a company that makes virtual exercise programs for seniors to help with balance and joint health. The virtual exercises mean that they can be done at home. A study has shown that this program resulted in 46% fewer falls and associated hospital admissions. Thanks to this new partnership, the Bold exercise programs will be available on the EllieQ personal robot, which makes it easy for seniors to access the instructor-led exercises. Seniors now can improve their balance and flexibility without having to travel to an exercise class.
