Health Tech: Easy One-Touch Glucose Test

People with diabetes often have to test their blood frequently. A new device makes this easier and more discrete.

It is important for people with diabetes to keep close track of their blood glucose levels. For most people, this means a painful finger price, swabs, test strips, and other gear. A new blood test device called POGO – P O G O – fits in your pocket or purse and is easy to use. Just press the button and it takes a tiny blood sample. The device holds a cartridge with 10 test kits, and your results are returned in about four seconds. You can even link it to your smartphone to read the results on a free app for iOS or Android phones. The result is a simple and discrete way of taking a blood measurement without any of the clutter and mess of traditional methods. The device is available by prescription or over the counter from Walgreens and many CVS stores.
