Health Tech: No Toothpaste Smart Toothbrush

Our dentists tell us to brush twice a day for two minutes. Brushing your teeth anywhere, anytime, can be fast and convenient.

What if you could brush your teeth anywhere? What if you didn’t have to bother with toothpaste and water and a sink? Imagine being able to brush all your teeth in just seconds while you’re driving your car or even riding in an elevator? That’s the idea behind the new Cwash from the Italian company, Plus Biomedicals. The control module connects to a U-shaped plastic channel that looks like a mouthguard for sports. The channel has tiny bristles that oscillate from vibrations in the control module. You can set it for either a 30 or 60 second treatment. And you don’t need toothpaste or water. The mouthpiece has xylitol and menthol embedded in it, and small amounts are released each time you brush. Xylitol helps kill bacteria, and the menthol freshens your breath. The Cwash is only available in Italy for now, but we can hope that they go international soon.
