If you want to watch streaming video on your TV and don’t mind using your phone to do it, it probably is.
It depends on what media you consume, and how much you mind using your phone as the gateway to your TV, but a Chromecast is a fairly inexpensive device at $35 and it does what it promises.
You will still have to pay for any streaming services that are not free, and you won’t be able to grab your TV’s remote and do it all fromt here, but Chromecast devices are easy to use, and work well.
If you don’t mind paying a little more there are options like the Roku and Amazon Fire sticks that may offer you more options, but there’s nothing wrong with a Chromecast.
