Ardem asked: “I have an iPad 2. Things are very slow to open up and will sometimes freeze and will go to a blank screen. It’s irritating. I also see it a little bit, though not as much, on my iPhone 6.”
Ardem, the iPad 2 is more than 6 years old and Apple has officially dropped support for it. You probably shouldn’t expect it to keep up any longer.
Technology doesn’t age well, and frankly your devices are getting old. Your best bet for keeping your iPhone 6 working as it is now is to not update it, since who knows how its older processor will be able to cope with iOS 11. As of iOS 11 beta 2, performance is ‘acceptable’ on iPhone 6, but it’s time for you to consider a 6S or 7.
The problem is that a lot of updates are not new features, or changes in user interface, a lot of them are security updates, you want to have those.
