The chances are good that you or someone you know is responsible for helping care for an elderly or sick relative or friend. But who cares for the caregivers?
On top of everything else, we are facing a caregiver crisis in the United States. According to some sources, 53 million people are unpaid caregivers and the demand continues to grow. Nearly one in four of these report that their own health has been impaired as a result of their duties. Help is on the way, thanks to a new partnership between Walmart and BetterUp, a company that provides online support services. The new “BetterUp for Caregivers” subscription program is designed to shore up the individual’s mental fitness, building their resilience, adaptability, and effectiveness. The program includes live coaching sessions with a certified coach, online classes, guidance from coaches, and access to relevant resources. The program is not inexpensive at $125 per month, but can provide caregivers the connection and support that they need to deal with the stress and anxiety that may come with their responsibilities.
