David asked: “Looking to do a projector in a home theater instead of a regular TV. Not looking to spend an arm and a leg. Something that is entry level but still good quality and good clarity.”
The problem here, David, is that the cost of a 4K projector (and if you’re going to create a home theater at this point, why wouldn’t you go with 4K?) is considerably more than the cost of even a large 4K TV.
A 55” 4K UltraHD TV from LG with an OLED display can be purchased for as little as $1300. A 65” Samsung 4K LED TV (no OLED here) can be found for around $900.
A 4K UltraHD projector will run anywhere from an Epson PowerLite at approximately $3000 all the way up to a $15,000 Sony.
We’re afraid that if you want a 4K UltraHD projector in your home theater, an arm and a leg will indeed be required. But, you can make one huge picture at least!
