We Help A CKLW Listener Play His DVDs Under Windows 10

Dave in Lincoln Park, Michigan listens on AM 800 CKLW - The information station and asked us about playing DVDs under Windows 10

Windows DVD Player

Dave asked: “I recently got Windows 10 on my tower and I kind of love it except my DVDs don’t play anymore. Hoping you can help me with that.”

Microsoft decided it had been too generous in offering a DVD player for free so, they’re now asking people to go to the Windows Store and pay $15 for it.

You can go that way, if you want to. Just open the store, buy the app and play your DVDs.

Having said that, you could just go to, for example, VideoLAN.org and download VLC player for free and use it to play your DVDs.

You can also try less popular but still free options like BlazeDVD and 5KPlayer.

Windows 10 is not doing anything to your DVD drive to keep you from paying DVDs, Microsoft just decided that you need to pay to play them. Luckily you have options.
