Dennis in Murfreesboro, Tennessee downloads our free podcasts”Several years ago, you turned me onto a small AM/FM radio recorder. It’s made by C. Crane – it was a CC Witness. I had fallen in love with it but I’ve destroyed the one I have. C Crane no longer makes those. I was wondering if you knew if any other manufacturer had something similar. I’ve become emotionally attached to the thing now and it’s no longer available.”

Dennis AM/FM radio recorders have pretty much died out. Between podcasts and streaming audio giants there hasnt been a great deal of demand for a recorder lately.

Having said that, there may still be one niche type of device that can help you.

Few regular listeners record AM or FM radio these days, but shortwave band enthusiasts still want to record that broadcast from Japan or Australia that they were able to pick up with their homemade antennas.

That means that some (but definitely not all) shortwave radio receivers still include a recording feature.

The quality will vary and we really need to stress that its still the minority of shortwave radios that include this, so check carefully, but that may be the way to go if you want to retain that functionality.
