 IFA History Feature

“IFA History” Weekly Feature

Making own videos in the beginning was quite complicated. First portable recorders and separate cameras came to the market at IFA 1979, but the combination had a weight of nearly 20 pounds and was quite expensive. So two years later at IFA 1981 the first camcorder prototypes were shown, “BetaMovie” by Sony, using a full format Beta cassette, and camcorders by Hitachi and JVC with VHS cassettes built-in. Two years later these camcorder were introduced to the markets.

The weekly IFA Update is brought to you by Messe-Berlin. Be sure to visit IFA-Berlin.com.
