Terry in Carthage, Missouri listens to the podcast and is calling in using the free App and asked: “Got a problem with my Alexas. I’ve got three of them in my house and I can’t seem to get them to work on the same commands. I’ll tell it to turn a light off. One will say it can, and the other two will say it doesn’t know the function. I go to the other room, and same thing. They’ll all answer, but only one will do the function. So I need some help to get them all working together.”
Terry, are all of your Echo speakers set up using the same account?
Echo speakers are built to work together. In theory when you set a second one up after having a first one running, as long as they are set up using the same account some settings will transfer.
Being connected to the same main account should ensure that Alexa skills, music settings, and smart devices all transfer to the newer one.
What wont transfer is bluetooth profiles, but that shouldnt keep them from being able to answer you if you talk to them directly.
Since Skills dont seem to have transferred, you might want to first make sure all 3 of your speakers are updated to the latest version, then reset the ones that are not responding to your skills to factory settings and pair them again making sure that you use the same account used when you set up your original one.
According to Amazon everything should transfer if you do that. Good luck!
