“News Pick of the Week” with Ralph “Graveline”

Joe in Berkley, Michigan asked: “I’ve got a question for you and the gang regarding earbuds. I want a set of earbuds I can put on my ears, but not put them in my ears. It seems to give me a lot of problems when I put earbuds in my ears, but still give me a great sound at a great price. What do you guys recommend?”
Joe, on-ear that are not full headphones are a tough ask these days, the market is largely split between the over ear cans and the in-ear earbuds.
There are a few options, for example you can look at Sonys LinkBuds Open which go into your outer ear but not at all into your ear canal, you can find them for around $180 on Sonys own website.
Boses Ultra Open Earbuds are a little different, they rest on the ear but dont go inside your ear canal either but they hang off the ear more than go inside it, and they feature 48 hours of battery life, and they are well reviewed, but youd be looking at around $200 in price.
Sony offers their own version of the same style for about the same price white they call the LinkBuds Clip Truly Wireless Open Earbuds, and those may be worth a look as well.
Shokz has a version as well with comparable battery life, around 40 hours to the Boses 48 and wireless charging, and the MSRP is about the same $200 but you can find the online for significantly less, much closer to $130. They call their model OpenDots One.
Shokz in general is a good brand to look at since their bread and butter is bone conduction, and bone conduction earbuds dont need to go into your ear canal at all. For example their OpenFit 2 would work well for you if you dont mind going with a bone conduction option.
