Thomas used the AskDave microphone at IntoTomorrow.com and asked: “I’m having trouble finding the photo I used for a contact. The photo is still in the contact, but I can not find the photograph itself. Can that photograph be out of my photos but still in the contact? How do I find this? Any help you can give me, I appreciate it. Thank you.”
Thomas, yes unfortunately the photo may be in the contact and no longer in your photo library.
Contacts usually keep their own copy of a picture so things wont change if you edit the original or delete it.
Unfortunately, theres usually no way to download the picture from the contact itself. Youll often find some kind of zoom or basic edit, but not the ability to download it.
If your Contacts app is allowing you to see a larger version of the picture so you can crop it into for example just the persons face, you may be able to take a screenshot to get a smaller version of the original, but thats typically as much as you will be able to do to recover the original.
If your contacts are synced online, it may be good to check the online version of the contact. It may have a larger version of the image and, if youre lucky, you may be able to right click on it, open in a new tab, and save the larger version.
