Elijah asked: How would I get someone to stop using my e-mail? They’re on Facebook using my e-mail address, but I’m not on Facebook. How can I stop all their Facebook mail from coming into my mailbox?
Elijah, Facebook’s Help Center has forms you can fill out for things like people pretending to be you, or pretending to be someone you know, or someone using your email on their account.
Unfortunately, all that is going to do is send you to page telling you to either add your email address to your own Facebook account, or to click “unsubscribe” on the notification emails you get, which doesn’t seem to fix the problem of someone using your email exactly, but at least they won’t bother you anymore.
If you want to take it a step further, you can file a report using yet another form, so to save you a few steps you can just click on this link directly to that form.
If someone is using your email account, it’s likely that at some point they were able to confirm to Facebook that it was their email account, so changing your password would probably be a good idea, just in case.
Since their Facebook notifications are going to you, you probably know exactly who this person is. If you have a Facebook account you could try to send them a message yourself and ask them to change their email address with the site.
If you really wanted to, you could probably go to Facebook.com, click on forgot my password and have them email you a link to change it, then log in and delete the account. It wouldn’t be the nicest solution, but it’d take care of the problem.
