How To Send A Video On A Listener’s Android Phone

Steen in Laurel, Mississippi listens on SuperTalk 99.3 asked about sending video on a Droid Maxx 2

Droid Maxx 2

Steen asked: “I have a Droid Maxx 2 and I’m trying to send a video. I can text a picture with no problem. But even a short 10-second video – it tells me I can’t do it. I don’t have enough room or something. Is that in my settings? I just need some help on how to do it. Any suggestions at all.”

Steen, a lot of people have run into the same problem you have. It looks like the Droid Maxx will not compress videos that are already saved.

What that means for you is that if you record a video from the messaging app it will compress it and send it just fine, but if you tap on to attach a video that already exists, the phone will complain that it’s too large.

There are two ways around that: 1) You can download an app that will compress the video manually, then attach that version to the message. 2) Just don’t text it.

You can use another app to send the video

Number 2 doesn’t mean “don’t send it” just don’t text it. If possible you can use another app to send the video, something like WhatsApp or Hangouts, or you can upload it either to a video hosting site like YouTube, or to a file sharing site like Dropbox and text a link to the video instead.

This may seem a little annoying, but it does have a huge advantage: your recipient would get a link to a full quality video, rather than a compressed version that looks like a collection of moving blotches.

If you can use a separate app to send the video, or upload it to another source, consider it. You will be sending the other person a higher quality video.
