Phylmarie asked: “I would like to find out if there is going to be a laptop that will be less than $1000. Being a pensioner on a budget, I would like to afford one, but they’re pretty high priced.”
Phylmarie, there are plenty of laptops to be had for under $1000. At $1000 and up you’re looking at fairly high-end devices. Not the highest end possible by any means, but they’re already not basic machines.
For example, you can buy a Lenovo IdeaPad 510s with a Core i7, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD for just under $800.
If that’s too expensive, an HP ProBook 640 G2 with a Core i5 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 500GB of hard drive for about $580.
If that’s still too much, you can get an Acer Aspire R3 with a touch screen, 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive for $370.
They go lower than that too, you can find both traditional laptops, as well as Chromebooks if all you do is online for $200 and even less.
If you don’t do very power hungry work on your laptop, you can probably get away with a machine that will cost you considerably less than $1000 without having to look very hard at all.
