Mel in Fairbanks, Alaska listens on Newsradio 970 KFBX and asked: “I have Amazon Prime with Amazon video. I’m trying to figure out how to copy those movies to my laptop because we’re going to be taking trips over the summer and I’d like to be able to play those movies on the plane.”
Mel, you can’t copy those movies onto a laptop.
You are able to take them with you on some phones and tablets, but not on laptops. Even on those phones and tablets you’d face restrictions like time limits and a limited library of titles that can be downloaded at all..
It’s a lot easier to enforce time restrictions on limited devices like phones and tablets, and it’s a lot easier to pirate content on more open and powerful devices like laptops, so don’t expect that to change.
If you were to look at other services like Netflix, you’d find the same issue.
You may be able to rent movies from other services and watch them on your laptop, but the big streaming companies won’t risk their licensed content by letting you do that, unfortunately.
