Roost has combined a traditional 9V battery with wifi technology to make smoke and CO detectors smarter by alerting users when their batteries need to be replaced. It will also send notifications to your smartphone when your alarm is going off, alerting you to a potential problem. The company says that the $35 lithium battery will last for more than 5 years in any standard smoke or CO detector that will accept a 9V battery.
