Connecting A Bluetooth Speaker To A Computer

Dennis in Tupelo, Mississippi listens on SuperTalk 95.9 FM asked us about connecting a bluetooth speaker to a computer

Bluetooth Speaker

Dennis asked: “I just got a new Bluetooth speaker that was given to me and I know how to hook it up to my Samsung phone, but I’m not sure how I can use it with my computer. I have music subscriptions on my laptop. I have a grandson that I would love to use this with for him to go to sleep at night. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.”

Dennis, does your computer have Bluetooth? If it does, you’d need to add the speaker the same way you’d add any other bluetooth device. Look for it on the device list under your operating system’s settings, and pair it from there.

After that, your computer should switch to it automatically as soon as it connects if you set it as the default speaker when you paired it.

If you do not have a bluetooth enabled computer, don’t give up hope

If you do not have a bluetooth enabled computer, don’t give up hope, many bluetooth speakers come with a line in port so you can play your audio via a regular cable. You may be able to do that for your computer and just use it wirelessly for your phone.

Also keep in mind that if you have a music subscription that you use with your computer, you can almost certainly use it on your phone too through an app or website. You can also look into that if you’d rather just access your music on your phone and play it through the speaker that way.
