Byron asked: “I’m looking to hook up an Android phone to my 70″ TV and I’d like to know what you think about some decent equipment.”
There might well be several ways to accomplish this, but in terms of value for dollar and quality output, we would have to recommend the Chromecast Ultra, which should be available mere days after you hear this broadcast.
Chromecast (regular or Ultra) has some built in streaming apps, which you can access and control using your phone, and the phone doesn’t need to remain on or even connected to the network. However, mirroring the screen of your Android device is easily accomplished with Chromecast.
So what’s special about the Chromecast Ultra? It can reach 4K Ultra HD and HDR resolution levels, which with your 70” TV sounds like a worthwhile option to have. Chromecast Ultra is a bit more expensive than the standard Chromecast, but still sells for a very reasonable $69.
Good luck!
