Fixing A Cracked iPhone Screen

Jensen in Cookeville, Tennessee listens on SuperTalk 99.7 WTN asked about changing his own iPhone screen

phone with cracked screen

Jensen asked: “Got a cracked iPhone 6. Wondering how hard is it to replace the screen on it. It’s just the glass part. It still works fine, but the glass is cracked. I think there’s two screens, I’m not sure. I know they sell kits online where you can replace that outer screen. How technical and how hard do you think that is. Can you do that with a kit you get online?”

Jensen, you can definitely replace the screen using one of the kits that are sold online.

Keep in mind that not all kits are made equal, so before buying the absolute cheapest kit, make sure you’re getting a good enough product.

As for how hard it is, it’s not easy.

As for how hard it is, it’s not easy. You can do it, but you will have to be patient. There are a lot of small parts, a lot of breakable pieces, and you will have to careful to follow the instructions carefully so you don’t finishing breaking your phone.

Having said that, if you’re patient, it’s definitely doable. Make sure you have plenty of time, a good guide to follow, the best tools you have access to, and go slow.

Last we heard, Apple was charging $109 to replace the screen of an iPhone 6, and the third party repair shops we know of all charge about the same. If you’re willing to do it yourself, you will probably pay just a fraction of that.
