Becky asked: “My computer was hacked and I took it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad couldn’t save anything. They had to reformat and reinstall Windows 10. I took it home and reinstalled Office and eBay and Facebook and it ran fine. The next morning I couldn’t get online. My internet connection is a jet pack. I don’t know what to do. When I try, it said something has changed in my computer. Do you have any suggestions?”
You may have an issue with drivers, it’s possible that before your computer was formatted it had an updated driver for your Jetpack MiFi and when it was wiped clean the driver was replaced by an earlier version that doesn’t play nice with Windows 10.
If you installed the driver straight from the MiFi itself, it probably didn’t bother to check for a new version, and you probably have an XP-era driver.
Windows 10 can try to locate a driver for you, the procedure involves opening Windows device manager, and having Windows look for updated drivers for you, we’ll link you to instructions from Verizon on this week’s show notes.
