Health Tech: Patch Monitors Worker’s Temperature

Worker health and safety is of paramount concern for employers, and that’s even more important during the COVID-19 pandemic. A smart arm band may be part of the solution.

For most businesses, employees are their most valuable asset. If a worker is sick or injured, they are not as productive and that can have a big impact on the bottom line. Wearables have become important tools in the frontline defense against workplace injuries and illness. A new arm band from Kenzen monitors body temperature and heart rate along with data on hydration and activity level. The system was originally intended for monitoring workers to prevent overheating, but with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, it also has become helpful in screening workers for fever which can be an indication of viral infection. The workers get an app that can alert them if they are getting too hot and need to take a cooling break. The system also provides managers with a dashboard so that they can monitor an entire team, and provides data that can be used to predict illness or injury in the workplace.
