The human body can make most of the proteins and other building blocks it needs, but it can’t make some nutrients such as Vitamin C. It’s hard to know how much to take, as each person metabolizes it at a different rate. This becomes more important as some healthcare experts believe that Vitamin C might play a role in helping patients recover from a COVID-19 infection. Researchers at UC San Diego have created a smart patch that can measure the amount of Vitamin C in your body by analyzing your sweat. This could result in a non-invasive, continuous monitoring system to make sure that a patient is receiving a therapeutic dose of the essential nutrient. This could also have implications for remote patient monitoring.
