Merge VR announced today that its soft, foam goggles are available for pre-order on Amazon
They’re expected to ship in mid-november and can be ordered now for $79. The googles house an iPhone or Android smartphone, any handset from the last two years should do according to Merge VR, and they feature dual buttons to interact with the virtual world.
Run and jump!
The company says that because of the flexible foam they are made of, they’re designed to be tossed in a bag, and that the user can “run and jump, or move forward and backward while fully immersed in virtual reality.”
While you may be able to do those things without fear of breaking the goggles, it’s probably not a bad idea to remember that the virtual world you’re interacting with lives within a real world of obstacles, some of them hard and prone to bruising the human wearer.
Features and accessories
The VR goggles will be available with adjustable custom lenses, anti-fog ventilation channels, audio ports, camera access for augmented reality, and an optional top strap for added comfort.
