High Dynamic Range is something you most often hear about when manufacturer talk about stills, now Sony is bringing it to TVs

Sony announced that it is bringing High Dynamic Range compatibility to more of its 4K Ultra HD televisions. In addition to the previously HDR capable series, Sony is also adding HDR compatibility to several models via a network update and is working with streaming video providers such as Amazon Video to bring customers movies and TV shows in HDR.

High dynamic range, reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, bringing greater contrast to the screen. When done right, this increased contrast can reveal the nuances of an image, when not done right… Well, let us Google bad HDR for you.
