Transferring Car Speakers To A New Vehicle

David in Murfreesboro, Tennessee listens on WTN 99.7 asked us about transferring house speakers

Speakers

David asked: “Wondering how hard it would be to take subs out of my truck and put them into my Camaro. I bought the truck with them and am wondering how hard it would be to transfer them.”

David, if you’re handy with cars and electronics, you can do it, but it will be a project.

You will need not just the subwoofers, but also the amplifier from your truck. The amplifier will probably need 12v power from the battery, so you will have run a cable from the battery to power it, and you should use a cable with an inline fuse, in case anything ever goes wrong.

After the amp has power, you still need to connect it to both the back of your radio, and to the subwoofers themselves, so that’s more wiring to run through your Camaro.

We couldn’t tell you first hand how hard it will be to run all of these cables, but it sounds to us like you’ll be in for hours of work on the Camaro, and probably a considerable amount of work on the truck too, since before you even start running wires on the car you first have to get your speakers out of truck.
