Harry asked: “I am a person who doesn’t use touch screens. I have a flip phone. I’m thinking about getting a smartphone, but the one I want, I can’t find. I want the Galaxy S3. I know they have newer ones, but I want the S3 because it’s got actual keys on it.”
Finding an S3 will be very, very hard, we actually looked for you and couldn’t find one. The S3 is a 2012 phone and 4 years is a lifetime in the smartphone world. On top of that not every S3 had a keyboard even back then, so you’re looking at even fewer options that would fit your needs!
If you absolutely must have a keyboard your only modern option with a built-in one is the Blackberry Priv (don’t worry, it runs on Android). The thing about the Priv is that you get a phone that reviewers haven’t exactly loved for $699, meanwhile the Samsung Galaxy S7 can be pre-ordered for $669, and you can buy an S6 for about $650.
About not wanting to use touchscreens, we promise that if you get a smartphone you will have to end up using a touchscreen most of the time, if give a soft keyboard a try you may end up liking it.
It’s true that you do not get the feedback that you do get from physical keys, but soft keyboards work pretty well these days, that’s why they’ve been so universally adopted.
If you want a keyboard and would like to have a few more options than just the Priv, Samsung phones from the S6 on can be paired with a physical keyboard that attaches to the bottom of the screen, it will cost you an extra $60, but you will get physical keys.
You could also pair just about any smartphone with a bluetooth keyboard, but it’s a second device to charge and carry, and putting your phone down to type your text on your separate device.
