Mark asked: “I play online poker and have downloaded basic videos to earn points so I can get free poker chips. I downloaded an app so I can get 5,000 chips which I never got, and I can’t get rid of the app. I keep trying to remove it. It will not allow me to uninstall it. I wonder if you can help me out.”
If you can’t get rid of it through normal means, you can give it the benefit of the doubt and reinstall it to see if that fixes whatever error is causing your problem.
Having said that, there’s probably no error, and you’re probably better off trying to find other ways to do it.
Unfortunately, this is not a rare problem, in fact it’s so common for Windows apps to refuse to uninstall that Microsoft stepped in and built their own solution called Microsoft FixIt, give that a try first and see if it gets rid of the rouge program.
If that doesn’t work though, some general antimalware software may be helpful to you. MalwareBytes may help, and it’s free.
If that doesn’t do it either, you can try a third party uninstaller, like 1-Click uninstaller and see if that works any better, but it’s likely that Microsoft’s own FixIt will do a better job of figuring out how to uninstall a stubborn app.
