Of course TV sets were black and white in the beginning, but already in 1902, German engineer Otto von Bronk, received a patent for the first color television technology. NTSC, developed by General Sarnoff and his team in the US several decades later, is based on this early concept. The first TV sets were tiny as a postage stamp and showed
only very unclear pictures with ugly stripes, first shown at the German radio show, today known as IFA. Picture capturing and reception was done mechanically, transmission done by radio waves.

Hi Dave! I was wondering what your opinion was on the Galaxy Tab.Thanks!”
Horacio’s personal opinion: “To put it eloquently: ‘Meh…’ It’s small enough that if you have a smartphone you use IT instead of the tablet most of the time, and you can easily do that because the Galaxy Tab runs a smartphone’s OS. After about a week of having it, I realized I wasn’t using it at all, it was just sitting on a table. On the plus side, you can get it for $199 on Verizon, that’s a lot cheaper than an iPad on Verizon … though, a lot less exciting.”
Mark’s opinion: “I second what H said. The Galaxy Tab simply didn’t blow me away. I found that after a while, I preferred to grab my Droid 2 because the Galaxy Tab wasn’t really making effective use of its larger screen. The apps were identical, just magnified. But that’s really an OS issue, and shouldn’t be a knock against 7″ tablets. I’ve said all along that I think the market has room for a 7″ AND a 10″ tablet. The Galaxy Tab is solid hardware that is light, small, and easy to carry. The shortcomings it has are related to Android, not the Galaxy Tab, and future upgrades, assuming they become available, should improve this.”
Rob’s opinion: “I wasn’t impressed by it either. The design is good, but the smaller 7-inch screen size would be ok if the OS ran smoothly. I’m quite happy with iOS running on the iPad.”

Jimmy from Indonesia in North Somatera watches the ITTV Updates on YouTube and asked :
“Hallo Dave, I wanna ask some questions:
1. Can we use Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom, HTC Flyer and BlackBerry book for phone calls?
2. Is it true that Samsung Galaxy Tab will not get the Android Honeycomb?
. When is HTC Flyer release and sell in Asia, including my home country Indonesia?
Thx for your answer.”
It’s hard to tell if you’ll be able to use any of those tablets to make phone calls because sometimes that feature is blocked by some providers and allowed by others, but we can tell you that none of those are being marketed for phone calls in the US.
Unfortunately, it does look like the original Galaxy tab will probably not be getting Honeycomb (though in some countries it does make phone calls). It seems that Google (at least for now) is keeping Honeycomb from being used on smaller tablets. That may change, but as it is now, 7-inch tablets don’t look like they’ll be getting Honeycomb anytime soon.
Just this last week we learned that here in the US the HTC Flyer has been made available for pre-order on Best Buy, but we haven’t heard anything about worldwide releases yet. In fact, before the Best Buy news, all we had heard was that it would be available “in the Spring” (northern hemisphere spring, that is), so it looks like we’re going to have to wait to find out.
