Russ in Gainesville, FL participated using the IT App and asked: “I recently bought a Garmin Virb 360 camera. I want to use it for snorkeling. It looks like a nice piece of equipment, but the Garmin app that you use to edit the video is not great. It’s very cumbersome and asks for a lot of computer resources in order to do any editing. Are you aware of any better, sleeker, easier to use, lower demand video editing software?”
Russ, there are several easy to use programs that you can try, but keep in mind that any video editing app will be fairly resource intensive, so don’t expect any to be too “low demand”.
If you’re on a Windows Machine, Microsoft Photos has some movie editing capabilities, but don’t expect anything too complex.
On the Mac side, iMovie is relatively light for a video editing app, but its relatively versatile and it may do the job for you.
On Windows, Mac, or Linux, you can try OpenShot. Its OpenSource and free. You wont be shooting blockbusters with it, but its fairly user friendly, and good for $0.
Lightworks is another option youll find across all major operating systems, it is professional-grade software, but as such it will require professional-grade hardware.
If something basic would suit you better, most computers will be able to run Clipify and you can also download it for free.
Whichever option you choose, you will still likely be looking at minimum hardware requirements if you want to edit longer movies and then export them, if youre computer is on the underpowered side, its going to take some patience to get your videos edited.
