Jeff asked: “I have a 15″ ASUS Chromebook and so far I’ve been unable to find a way to access Google Play. Everything I’m reading says that I can’t, but I’ve been told that I can and I’ve been unable to find it.”
Jeff, if it’s not an obvious, in your face option, you probably can’t do it.
Not every Chromebook will be able to access the Play store, and of the ones that will, not all of them can today.
It’s been a slow process, and many older machines will just be left behind, even today most of the Chromebooks that are scheduled to one day support Play store apps still don’t.
Here is a list of Chromebooks slated to be updated and their current status, but as you’ll see the majority of the list just says “Planned,” If your particular model doesn’t happen to be on the list… well, we wouldn’t hold out much hope.
The last ChromeOS update added just one more model out of every Chromebook out there, and considering how many manufacturers are making them, and how many models each has put out, one model doesn’t sound like a huge amount of progress.
Unfortunately, these updates don’t always favor earlier adopters, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for you!
