Daniel asked: “I have a laptop, a 2-year old HP with an AMD A8 chip. Everything’s been working fine, but I have a problem with overheating. I even have it on a cooling pad with a fan in it. Can you give me some help on this and let me know what to do?”
Daniel, there are plenty of reasons why a laptop can overheat and we can’t give you a single answer without having a look at the device itself, but we’ll give you a few probable causes.
Your laptop may simply be dusty! Fans need good airflow to do their job and after some time of sucking air in, they can just get clogged and the air flow may diminish, sometimes cleaning them can go a long way.

Some parts may also be wearing out, the fans themselves sometimes slow down over time and can’t do their job as well as they used to, cooling gels may rub off of the components, or even small rubber legs can wear out and prevent the air from flowing like it should.
All of those things, can be fixed by replacing the faulty parts.
There can also be software related reasons, older software, firmware or the computer’s BIOS may need to be updated to work better and generate less heat.
If you happened to install any new components, like a hard drive, that may be causing it too.
