Video conferencing with your pets is already a reality, but now THEY can call YOU
PetChatz is a small video screen that pet owners can install at their furry friend’s eye level to gain the ability to hold 2-way video calls with them.
Now, why would the pet care to have a video conference? PetChatz enables you to bribe them with treats. Pavlov wins again.
PetChatz HD and PawCall
The new version of PetChatz, PetChatz HD, features a high definition camera, high quality audio, and the opportunity to pair it was an optional, sold-separately, PawCall.
PawCall is a pet-friendly pedal that initiates a call from the pet to the owner, and allows the owner to “schedule calls” which will cause the PawCall to light up and blink so the pet can then initiate a call to the owner which will ring on their computer or phone.
Why would the pet do that? Because if the pedal blinks and they step on it, their owner may give them a treat on the PetChatz.
The whole setup seems like a pretty expensive way to try to get your pet to do something kind of odd for a week, and then give up either when they don’t show interest or when you realize that the two way call mostly consists of a dog staring at a treat dispenser while you secretly wish your pet could actually talk or something cause you spent a lot of money on this system.
You can watch a video of the system below:
Pricing and availability
The PetChatz HD retails for $379.99, the PawCall is an extra $99.99.
You should be able to get your hands on the PetChatz HD in January 2016, and your pets should be able to get their paws on the PawCall in February 2016.
If you’re willing to force your pet to live without the ability to call you (if you can call that living), you can still get the original (non-PawCall compatible) PetChatz for $300 now.
