We’ve just wrapped up Black Friday Week! Among this year’s most popular tech items for shoppers, according to the Consumer Technology Association – smartphones, TVs and tablets. And “how” we’re buying tech is evolving. Lexie de los Santos explains in this week’s “CTA Update”.
CTA’s 2015 Post Black Friday Survey estimates 56.9 million American adults, just less than half of all shoppers, have bought or plan to buy tech products during the Thanksgiving shopping week. But, the number of consumers opting to shop via mobile or online is quickly approaching the number of in-store shoppers this year.
85 percent of those who shopped did so online or via mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet, compared to 94 percent who shopped in physical stores. And the majority of consumers indicated that avoiding crowds was their top reason for shopping online.
They also said shopping online saved them time and helped them find better or similar deals compared to those offered in stores. And for those that couldn’t step away from family time, shopping online enabled them to shop outside of physical store hours.
