Bluetooth Headphones And Phone Calls

Steve in Tupelo, Mississippi Listens on SuperTalk 95.9 about bluetooth headphones for calling

Steve asked: “Looking for the best bluetooth headphone set for listening to music and calling people so they can hear you. I never really found a pair that works real good.”

Steve, a lot of bluetooth headphones will let you use a built in microphone to make phone calls, but the quality of the call tends to improve with the price of the set.

For example, v-moda’s Crossfade II Wireless offer good sound quality, and you can use the built in microphone for calls, but it will cost you $330.

For $230, you can pick the Bose SoundLink II headphones, and they actually advertise HD voice and crystal clear calling as a feature.

A set of Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC headphones will cost you $199 and will also allow you to have phone conversations.

Unfortunately, if you go for inexpensive generics, the quality of both the music and the phone connection will probably suffer

Unfortunately, if you go for inexpensive generics, the quality of both the music and the phone connection will probably suffer, and your bluetooth connection may sometimes drop. If you want to be able to have conversations regularly and without frustration, you may be better off spending the money.

If you have an iPhone 5 or later, take a look at Apple’s own AirPods. They have excellent sound quality for both listening to music and phone calls. Because they’re Apple made, everything is automatic — they practically read your mind, automatically playing when you place them in your ears and pausing when you remove them. Adjusting volume, changing the song, making/taking a call, and getting directions is just a double tap on one of the Airpods away. Battery life is 5 hours of listening time on one charge, and you can recharge them on the go with the airpods case — the thing that looks like a packet of dental floss — for up to 24 hours of listening.
