Troubleshooting A Listener’s Tablet

Ronald in Pontiac, Michigan listens on AM800 CKLW and is having issues with his Acer tablet

Acer Iconia W5 Tablet

Ronald asked: “I just bought an Acer tablet. Had one previously that got dropped in the water. I had no problem. I got Google Chrome on my phone and computer that works well. The new tablet, I just keep getting error messages that Google is no responding. I sent it back and got another one and I got the same thing where the Google products are not responding. I need some help.”

What evidence do you have that your tablet’s network connection (and thus connection to the Internet) is working at all? Can you use online apps other than Google?

If you can, and it’s just Google with the problem, then perhaps you have something blocking your connection to Google on the specific network you’re using? Some kind of monitoring or filtering product on the tablet? Maybe even an antivirus or security program?

Because it can be so many things, it’s hard for us to tell you definitively what’s going on. But a good place to start is removing the variable of whether your network connection is working.
