Into Tomorrow listener Leonard in Nashville, TN listens on WTN 99.7 and sent us a question about moving pictures from his Droid to his Macbook. He asked:
I need to get the pictures from my Droid phone onto my Macbook Pro. Is there an easy way to do it, or do I need some sort of weird app?
No app required! The fastest way would probably be either to remove the SD card and copy the files straight fromt here, but you will need a microSD to SD adapter, so that may not work for you. You almost certainly have a MicroUSB cable, if you use it to plug your phone into the computer, you will most likely see the phone pop up on the desktop and Finder the way any flash drive would.
From there you can navigate to your pictures folder on your phone, as if it was any other external drive, and drag and drop the files to any folder on your computer. If you’re too cool for cables, you can always just pair your Droid to your Macbook Pro via bluetooth and just beam the files over.
Now, if you want to use an app…
You can use an app, and kill two birds with one stone, you can upload the photos from your Android phone to a cloud strage system. Google Photos, which is part of your Google account, which you have one if you have anAndroid phone, is free and will share space with your Google Drive files up to the 15GB limit on free accounts.
You can also look into Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive. Both of these apps will automatically backup the photos from your Android phone to their cloud storage services and let you access them easily from the MacBook.
Using a cloud storage system makes it simple to move the pictures, no connecting anything is required, and it serves to backup your precious photos at the same time.
